In the great spirit of St. John Paul II and his teachings within the encyclical letter Fides et Ratio, the JPII Outdoor Lab offers camps that bring environmental science, outdoor education, and teachings of the Church together.
Within every course of our program, we operate on 3 main pillars;
- What does God have to say about this? We dive into Scriptural teachings to understand God’s creation and plan.
- How does God make it work? With this question, we analyze the beautiful science of the course subject.
- What does God want you to do with this? We bring it home with this question as we challenge the youth to think about practical ways that they are being inspired to take these teachings and apply them to their lives
At the JPII Outdoor Lab Leadership camp, youth learn that they are made with unique gifts from God to offer the world. These gifts are realized through a low ropes challenge course, survival activities, Adoration, daily Mass, and hikes. The JPII Outdoor Lab Leadership camp is customizable to your group’s needs. We work with you by learning your group’s specific struggles and how they may need to grow in leadership and as a group.
JPII Outdoor Lab offers a Confirmation retreat that helps youth to experience the truth that they are born into the Kingdom of God and that God, who is their true King, is equipping them for the battle for their souls and the souls of others. At our Confirmation retreats, we lead the youth to encounter Christ in a personal and intimate way and we emphasize the importance of actively participating in the life of God.
Our Confirmation retreats are customizable and typically consist of Adoration and Confession, a series of talks on Confirmation and the Kingdom of God, daily Mass, leadership challenge courses, small group meetings, and hikes within the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Educators and Principals,
We are excited to provide these beautiful teachings to your students! The JPII Outdoor Lab strives to work with you in delivering a quality education of environmental science and outdoor education as well as leading your youth to a deeper understanding of themselves and how God is working in their lives. Our programs are customizable to your needs and wants. We offer programs that vary between one to five days in length. Within the daily schedule, we provide Sacraments, teachings of the Catholic faith, outdoor education, and environmental science. “Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth – in a word, to know himself – so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.”
– Pope John Paul II
We are privileged to be leading your children through our program. They have many great things in store for them while at camp and we are excited to have them joining us. Not only will your children be learning about environmental science and outdoor education but they will also be in an environment where they will have the opportunity to encounter God and His love in a transformative way. Through their experience at camp, our goal is for them to realize the importance of their relationships with God, themselves, others, and all of God’s creation.
On this page, you will find everything you need to prepare your child for camp. We have included an informational letter, a packing list, the liability form that needs to be filled out and given to your teacher, our safety protocols, and a schedule that gives you an idea of a day in the life at camp.
If you have any questions or concerns, please ask your child’s teacher or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are happy to respond to any questions or concerns you may have.
